Winning an AA Award: the spoils of victory

Winning an Accountancy Age award worked wonders

Written by Jon Shine

There was an immediate impact from being awarded Medium Firm of the Year in 2005. It enhanced our reputation even further and contributed to our increase in referral business.

With our practice having been involved in numerous AIM/PLUS market transactions, we had a proven track record. We now often find ourselves successfully winning business against those ‘large’ firms in assurance, advisory and transactional work, and demonstrate that the necessary skills can actually be obtained outside the Square Mile and West End of London.

There is no doubt that the Medium Firm of the Year endorsement gives potential clients and professional advisers who had not previously considered Adler Shine, an added degree of confidence in our ability to deliver against their expectations. It actually helps us to open doors that may have previously been closed to us, particularly in the sectors of sport and media.

We now operate in a global market place and our reputation is continually increasing in the international business community.

Our virtual financial office function now provides treasury and outsourcing services to over
70 clients whose head Offices are as wide afield as USA, Canada, France, China, Israel, Mauritius
and Australia.

Here again, the award provides added reassurance to such clients and to those large practices who frequently refer such clients to us.

Not only was our award to prove a tremendous endorsement of the practice, but it is also a valuable addition to the CVs of all our staff! Our continued expansion depends on their calibre.

Winning has helped us attract professional staff with experience in large practices who are seeking a more commercial and entrepreneurial environment, where they can take on far greater responsibility and client involvement, making a direct contribution towards our future growth.

When the award is made by a peer panel consisting of highly reputable and respected senior figures within the profession, there is an added sense of pride and achievement.

Much of our business success is due to the passion of our partners and staff, all of whom contribute to our clients’ success. Our growth has primarily been achieved through client and introducer referral.

Thanks to the award and our own ability, we find ourselves blessed with many new business opportunities despite the current economic turmoil.
